Paull Young January 18th, 2007
Paull Young, the Australian poster boy for using blogs, podcasts and wikis to jumpstart your communications career, came to speak at The Centre for Creative Communications as part of the Speakers Series, to talk about his digital and geographical rollercoaster ride.
His name is familiar name to many Public Relations practitioners around the world.
That's rather surprising considering he graduated with his PR degree less than two years
ago from a small university in rural Australia.
How did he do it? Google his name and you'll find out. He seems to be everywhere. He
writes a blog for new practitioners and PR students, he hosts a podcast for
Forward,
based in the U.S. He was the mastermind behind a wiki initiative to combat the creation
of fake grassroots organizations (known as astroturfing). And he is ever-present in the
conversation on many other communicators' blogs and podcasts.
His activities in social media prompted him to leave Australia last month on an odyssey
that is taking him to the U.S., Canada, Britain and elsewhere to meet many of the movers
and shakers in communications he has been conversing with online. This week he arrives
in Toronto for a few days and is visiting the Centre to share his experiences and
observations as a new communicator using new media.
